Free Diving and Scuba fishing School
in Sardinia

If you love free diving and want to have an out-of-ordinary experience, then you have to meet Gabriele Del Bene and spend a few days with him in his apnea diving school.

The course takes place in the Baia of Arzachena, strategically located in a small gulf protected by the islands of Caprera and La Maddalena, both declared underwater marine parks.
The spot is also, very close to the glamorous "Costa Smeralda" .

Gabriele is a former national of free diving champion, more exactly a scuba fishing champion in apnea, who was part of the Italian National team that won the world championship of scuba fishing in Chile in 2004. He currently holds the record for the deepest fish ever caught in apnea at -57 mts.

The course is a unique experience as Gabriele teaches his personal breathing technique, which combines  a sequence of inspirations and expirations using the movement of the diaphragm to enable your apnea to last longer and longer.

The second step in the learning process is to become more and more aquatic in the sea element and consists in diving at 5mts of depth and stay there - holding your breath - while relaxing all your muscles.
Finally, you are ready for the deep apnea diving in the blue where Gabriele teaches the elements of how to perform the diving along a rope up to 20-25 mts while minimizing the waste of energy and becoming as fluid as a fish. This is a moment of great emotion as you are alone with yourself while going further and further down in the blue just relying on your apnea and following a white rope till the bottom of the sea………..
Here the adrenalin strikes to the maximum and it is all about maintaining a state of relaxation and calmness while being in total control of your body when it is the moment to swim back to the surface.

A great apneist is able to combine the rational intelligence of planning every single moment of the dive with the emotional side of it of being able to manage his/her own emotions in every single seconds.
It is really an experience of experiencing the sea in a holistic way becoming as similar as possible to a fish with its fluid and flexible movements.

Lastly, we need to add that Gabriele is not only en extraordinary trainer but also a fantastic human being with a great sense of humor and a very friendly approach. If you decide to do the course with him, you won't regret it because it is going to be one of the most extraordinary - and fun - experience of your life!
